Courtney {Class of 2022}

Congratulations to Courtney, Class of 2022! Courtney, how am I ever going to get over the fact that you aren’t a little baby anymore?! I can’t even believe that you are a senior this year!! I have vivid memories of you coming to school with your mom to pick up your brothers and you were this teeny tiny adorable little thing. The cutest ever! And then, you were six and in first grade. You’ve had such spunk and such a love of life from early, early childhood. Your laugh has always been contagious and your smile lights up a room.

Courtney is a senior this year and they are killing it. They are a master in the kitchen! Their favorite non-academic class is their culinary class. That’s not the only place where Courtney is artistic and creative. Courtney is an accomplished writer and poet. The way they process emotions through written word is incredible. Courtney also loves their Honors Genocide class, as the Holocaust has been an interest for a long time. Courtney is one of the most empathetic people I know and they feel everything in their heart.

Courtney is going to take a year off to work. Once they go back to school, their future plans include general ed courses to reach their final goal of working with animals. After college graduation, this animal lover is thinking of finding a job training service animals or therapy animals, thus combining a love of animals and a desire to help people. (Their heart, right?!)

In fact, the reason we chose Wickham Park is because that’s where the ducks live and where they said their first words. At nine months old, little baby Courtney was being pushed in the stroller by their mother. They came upon the duck pond, and Courtney started calling out, “Duh, duh, duh.” Their mother, thinking there is no way her nine month old was talking, walked away from the pond and then back toward it. Again, “Duh, duh, duh.” Sweet, little, animal loving Courtney was making sure Mom saw the ducks. How sweet, right?!

Courtney stays busy learning how to drive, gaming with friends online and cooking for their family. In the past, Courtney has volunteered with Feral Cats of East Windsor and now that the covid pandemic is hopefully ending soon, Courtney will continue helping cats. Also, Courtney will soon be welcoming a pet snake into their family’s home!

Like I said a few times, Courtney has the biggest heart and I’m so excited for where their future leads them! Courtney, I can’t wait to see where you go in life!
