Rachel and Joey {Elizabeth Park Engagement Session}

Rachel & Joey’s Spring Engagement Session at Elizabeth Park in Hartford, CT

There are some engagement sessions that stay with you long after the photos are delivered, and Rachel and Joey’s session at Elizabeth Park in Hartford is absolutely one of them.

Not only was it a beautiful spring evening filled with laughter, blooming flowers, and the perfect light, but this session also felt incredibly personal for me in a way I’ll never forget.

Rachel was actually one of my first grade students nearly 20 years ago.

Seeing her now, happy, engaged, confident, and completely in love, was such a full-circle moment. She was the sweetest little girl back then, and she has grown into such a beautiful, kind, and genuinely fun person.

Getting to document this season of life for her and Joey was truly so special.

A Perfect Spring Evening at Elizabeth Park

Elizabeth Park in Hartford, Connecticut is always one of my favorite locations for engagement sessions, especially in the spring.

The gardens were just beginning to bloom during Rachel and Joey’s session, giving us the soft colors and fresh greenery that make spring engagement photos feel so romantic and timeless. Between the flower gardens, winding paths, and dreamy evening light, every corner of the park created the perfect backdrop for their photos.

Even better than the scenery, though, was the energy these two brought to the session.

We laughed constantly from beginning to end.

Their connection feels effortless. It was playful, relaxed, and full of genuine joy. They made each other smile the entire session, which always creates the most natural and meaningful engagement photos.

Their Sweet Surprise Proposal Story

Rachel shared that Joey completely surprised her with his proposal.

Halfway through his time at the police academy, he took Rachel and their dog for a walk to one of their favorite sunset spots, a place they would often visit together.

Even though Joey had told her he wouldn’t propose until after she graduated college, he decided to surprise her and ask the question anyway.

And of course, she said yes.

I love proposals like this because they feel personal and intentional without needing anything overly elaborate. Choosing a meaningful location and including their dog made the moment feel completely true to their relationship.

Why Elizabeth Park is One of the Best Engagement Session Locations in Connecticut

If you’re planning engagement photos in Connecticut, Elizabeth Park is truly one of the best locations in the state.

Located in Hartford, the park offers:

  • Seasonal flowers and blooming gardens
  • Historic architecture and pathways
  • Soft natural light at sunset
  • Romantic spring and summer scenery
  • Plenty of variety for photos in one location

For couples wanting elegant but relaxed engagement photos, it’s always an incredible option.

Rachel and Joey’s session perfectly captured the feeling of spring in New England. It had fresh blooms, warm light, and the excitement of a new season ahead.

Engagement Sessions That Feel Natural & Fun

One of the things couples often tell me before their session is that they’re nervous about being in front of the camera.

You do not need modeling experience to have beautiful engagement photos.

The best sessions happen when couples simply focus on each other, have fun together, and trust the process. My goal is always to create an experience that feels relaxed, comfortable, and authentic so your photos reflect your real relationship.

These two made that incredibly easy.

Connecticut Engagement & Elopement Photographer

As a Connecticut engagement and elopement photographer, I love documenting couples during this exciting season of life, whether that’s a romantic engagement session at Elizabeth Park, an intimate elopement, or a wedding day surrounded by family and friends.

Rachel and Joey’s session was filled with joy, laughter, and so many sweet moments that made it unforgettable.

Watching former students grow into adulthood is already emotional enough. Getting the chance to photograph one of the happiest chapters of Rachel’s life was truly an honor.

I cannot wait to celebrate these two as they continue this next chapter together.
