Last spring, Amy and Edward exchanged vows in a way that felt deeply personal, intentional, and beautifully true to who they are as a couple. Now that our blogsite is live, one of the greatest joys has been sharing the weddings we have held close for so long, and Amy and Edward’s day at Metro Bis in Simsbury is one we are especially excited to finally feature.
Their Metro Bis intimate wedding was centered around connection, meaning, and presence. Surrounded by only their closest friends and family, Amy and Edward created a day that felt warm, emotional, and entirely their own. Metro Bis provided the perfect backdrop. It is elegant yet understated, with a sense of quiet sophistication that complemented the intimacy of the celebration.
The ceremony itself was incredibly moving and included a hand-tying ritual, symbolizing the binding of their lives and commitment to one another. There was a stillness in the air, the kind that happens when everyone is fully present, witnessing something sacred. Afterward, the celebration flowed seamlessly into an intimate dinner with their guests, filled with heartfelt conversation, laughter, and the kind of joy that doesn’t need spectacle to be felt.
When we asked Amy about the wedding planning process, her response reflected the same intentionality that defined the day.
“It’s been low maintenance, which is what we wanted,” she shared. “It’s been fun and also a challenge to figure out what we really want when there are so many things you’re told you ‘need’ or ‘should do.’ Our goal was to truly have this be our day and not about anyone else.”
That philosophy carried through every decision, including Amy’s dress. She found her gown at The Wedding Embassy in Oakville, Connecticut, and turned the experience into something meaningful by involving the people closest to her.
“They give you ten clothespins to put on dresses you want to try on, so I gave each of the five people I brought one pin,” Amy told us. “It really made them part of the process.”
She ultimately chose a strapless A-line gown with a modern-classic feel, complete with pockets and a high slit. While she loved the dress immediately, it was the veil that sealed the decision.
“They put it on me in a kind of ‘you’ll probably not like this’ tone, but it was perfect. It has a cute bow, and I’ve always been obsessed with bows. It really carried into the theme of the wedding.”
When asked what advice she would give other couples planning their wedding, Amy’s words were both grounding and powerful.
“This is truly your day. Don’t let anyone impact your decisions about your day. The second you get married, you are your core family unit. You need to choose each other every day over anyone else—start with the wedding planning.”
After the celebration, Amy and Edward headed to St. Lucia for their honeymoon, staying at Stonefield Villa Resort. They chose it intentionally, as it is a family-owned resort where they could enjoy a private villa and pool, slow down, and savor the beginning of their marriage.
Amy and Edward’s Metro Bis intimate wedding was a beautiful reminder that when couples strip away expectations and focus on what truly matters, the result is something timeless. We are so honored to have documented their day and to finally share it with you.
