Sydney & Adrian’s Intimate Atlantic Oceanside Hotel Wedding in Bar Harbor
There are some wedding days that feel like they were meant to happen exactly where they did.
For Sydney and Adrian, that place was Bar Harbor.
With the ocean stretching out behind them, the summer evening light settling over the water, and their closest family and friends gathered around them, they said “I do” at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel.
It was intimate, meaningful, and completely focused on what matters most: the two of them and the people they love.
And honestly, it couldn’t have been a more beautiful setting for a couple who loves to travel, explore, and find new adventures together.
A Wedding Day Focused on What Matters
One of the things that stood out to me from talking with Sydney and Adrian was the way they approached planning their wedding.
Sydney shared that Adrian was involved in every step of the process.
That may sound like a small detail, but it says a lot about their relationship.
Rather than Sydney carrying the majority of the planning, they made the decisions together. She said that having Adrian involved in everything actually made the planning process more enjoyable and brought them closer together.
I think that same intentionality was reflected in their wedding day.
They didn’t need a huge production.
They wanted to be surrounded by the people who mattered most, exchange meaningful vows, enjoy the beauty of Bar Harbor, and celebrate together.
And they did exactly that.
A Dress Chosen With Family
Sydney’s wedding dress shopping story was another little glimpse into the people surrounding her.
She initially went shopping with her mom and fell in love with the third dress she tried on.
When it was time to make the final decision, she returned with both her parents and members of Adrian’s family.
She loved the way the dress looked, making it the perfect choice for her wedding day.
And I love that the experience wasn’t just about finding a dress. It became another moment shared with the people closest to her.
Saying “I Do” by the Ocean
The ceremony took place overlooking the ocean at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel, and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect.
Bar Harbor has a way of making even an intimate wedding feel incredibly grand. The coastline, the open sky, the water, the boats, and the surrounding beauty create a backdrop that doesn’t need much embellishment.
But it was the ceremony itself that made the day truly special.
Sydney and Adrian shared personal vows, and you could feel the difference immediately.
There is something incredibly powerful about hearing two people speak directly to one another in their own words. Instead of simply repeating traditional phrases, personal vows allow couples to tell each other, and everyone witnessing, their own story.
Their words made everyone feel like they were part of something genuinely meaningful.
There were no elaborate distractions.
Just Sydney, Adrian, the people they love, and the ocean behind them.
A Gorgeous Summer Evening in Bar Harbor
After the ceremony, we took advantage of the beautiful evening and headed outside for portraits.
This is one of my favorite things about photographing weddings in Bar Harbor. You don’t have to manufacture a backdrop when you have the Maine coast surrounding you.
We photographed Sydney and Adrian by the water, taking in the views and allowing them time to simply enjoy being married.
The weather couldn’t have cooperated better.
The summer evening gave us beautiful conditions for portraits, and the coastal scenery provided so much variety without ever taking attention away from the couple.
There is something about photographs by the ocean that feels especially fitting for people who love adventure.
The water seems to suggest that there is always somewhere else to go, something else to see, another trail to explore, another experience waiting around the corner.
That feels very much like Sydney and Adrian.
A Marriage Built for Adventure
Sydney and Adrian share a love of travel and new adventures, and their honeymoon plans were a perfect reflection of that.
They love hiking in national parks and have made it a goal to visit every national park in the United States.
So rather than traveling somewhere completely separate for their honeymoon, they chose to stay in Bar Harbor and explore Acadia National Park and the surrounding nature and sites.
I love that choice.
Their wedding wasn’t just a destination they traveled to and left behind. Bar Harbor became the beginning of their next adventure together.
After spending their wedding day surrounded by family and friends, they had the opportunity to slow down, explore, hike, and experience the landscape together as newlyweds.
It feels like a pretty perfect way to begin a marriage.
Keeping the Wedding About the Two of You
When Sydney was asked what advice she would give other couples planning their weddings, her answer was simple:
Try not to get too wrapped up in everything being a big event. It’s one day, and it should be about you and your special person above everything.
I couldn’t agree more.
Weddings can come with so many expectations.
There are traditions to consider, decisions to make, timelines to create, and a seemingly endless list of details that can sometimes make couples forget why they’re doing all of it in the first place.
Sydney and Adrian’s wedding was a beautiful reminder that an intimate celebration can be every bit as meaningful.
Their day was about their vows.
Their family and friends.
Their relationship.
And the beginning of whatever adventures come next.

A Bar Harbor Wedding to Remember
Sydney and Adrian’s wedding at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel was one of those days where everything seemed to come together.
A gorgeous summer evening.
The ocean as their backdrop.
Personal vows that brought everyone into the heart of their relationship.
Portraits by the water.
Dinner with their closest family and friends.
And two people beginning their marriage exactly the way they wanted to—with the people they love most and an adventure already waiting for them.
Sydney and Adrian, thank you for allowing us to document such an important chapter in your story.
I hope your marriage is filled with just as much adventure as your travels, just as much beauty as that Bar Harbor coastline, and countless new places to explore together.
And if visiting every national park is still the goal, I hope these photographs become the beginning of a very long collection of memories from all the places your marriage takes you.
Congratulations, Sydney and Adrian. Here’s to a lifetime of adventures together. 🤍
