Iris & Evan’s Intimate Wedding at Saybrook Point Resort and Marina
Some weddings don’t need hundreds of guests to feel unforgettable.
Iris and Evan chose to celebrate their marriage with a small group of their closest family members at Saybrook Point Resort and Marina in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Their wedding was peaceful, personal, and filled with meaningful moments from beginning to end.
This wedding was especially memorable for me because I had the privilege of serving as both their officiant and one of their photographers alongside Brian. Being trusted to lead their ceremony and then document the day through photographs made this celebration even more meaningful.
A Waterfront Ceremony at Saybrook Point Resort and Marina
There are few ceremony locations in Connecticut that can match the beauty of Saybrook Point Resort and Marina.
With the marina and beautiful boats stretching across the background, Iris and Evan exchanged vows surrounded by peaceful waterfront views. The setting felt relaxed and elegant, perfectly matching the atmosphere they wanted for their wedding day.
Rather than creating a large production, they focused on what mattered most: making lifelong promises to one another while surrounded by the people they love.
A Ceremony That Reflected Their Relationship
When we planned their ceremony together, one thing became clear very quickly.
They wanted it to feel like them.
Throughout the ceremony, we talked about how their relationship grew through everyday moments rather than dramatic ones. Over time, they realized they had become each other’s favorite person. They built a relationship centered on trust, laughter, patience, and simply enjoying life together.
Having experienced seasons of long distance, they learned how important communication and teamwork truly are. Those challenges strengthened their relationship and prepared them for the life they are building together.
One of my favorite parts of the ceremony was sharing what they admire most about one another.
Evan loves Iris’s smile, her sense of humor, and the way she cares for everyone around her.
Iris admires Evan’s loyalty, dedication, and reliability. She appreciates that he encourages her to step outside her comfort zone while always supporting her with patience and grace. And she especially appreciates that he’s the chef in their home!
Together, they described their relationship in three simple words: light, fun, and loyal.
Sweet Family Moments
Their intimate ceremony included one especially adorable moment when their niece, Everly, delivered the wedding rings.
Watching her proudly walk the rings forward brought smiles to everyone in attendance and added another meaningful family memory to an already emotional ceremony.
After exchanging heartfelt vows and rings, I had the honor of pronouncing them husband and wife before introducing them for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Church.
Portraits Around the Marina
Once the ceremony ended, Brian and I explored the property with Iris and Evan for portraits.
The marina quickly became one of my favorite locations of the day. The boats, docks, and waterfront scenery created timeless New England portraits that perfectly captured the relaxed feel of their wedding.
Every direction offered another beautiful backdrop, making it easy to create a gallery filled with variety while never leaving the property.
Exploring Old Saybrook’s Historic Colonial Charm
One of the greatest advantages of getting married at Saybrook Point Resort and Marina is its location.
Just minutes away from the marina, the historic colonial area of Old Saybrook offers beautiful architecture, charming streets, and classic New England character.
We spent time creating portraits among the historic buildings, giving Iris and Evan an entirely different look from their waterfront images. The combination of coastal scenery and colonial charm made their gallery feel both elegant and uniquely Connecticut.
A Timeless Hotel Bar
Before wrapping up the day, we stopped inside the hotel’s beautiful bar for a few final portraits.
The rich wood, classic design, and warm atmosphere created timeless photographs that felt completely different from the outdoor locations. It was the perfect way to end their portrait session and added another layer of variety to their final gallery.
A Wedding Focused on What Matters Most
One thing I loved most about Iris and Evan’s wedding was its simplicity.
Nothing felt rushed.
Nothing felt forced.
Every decision reflected what mattered most to them: spending time together, celebrating with family, and beginning their marriage with intention.
Their wedding is a wonderful reminder that the most meaningful celebrations are often the most personal ones.

Connecticut Wedding Photographer and Officiant
As both a Connecticut wedding officiant and photographer, I love helping couples create ceremonies that genuinely reflect who they are while preserving every meaningful moment through timeless photographs.
Iris and Evan’s wedding was filled with quiet joy, genuine emotion, and beautiful scenery from start to finish. It was an honor to stand beside them during their ceremony and capture the beginning of this exciting new chapter.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Church!
